Silent Yet Not Peaceful – Students’ Biennale•4th Edition

Silent Yet Not Peaceful

Stillness is just not a state of being, but also remains in the gaze that falls upon things under scrutiny. ‘Silent, Yet Not Peaceful ’, looks into a fixed gaze that expresses a sense of confinement. Each of the visuals marked with absence of human figures reflect rumination on situations of crises. The brooding nature of such human emotions is loaded with anxiety. It remains as an undercurrent in the visuals. Embedded in a silence that is disturbing in nature, it lies camouflaged in ordinary objects and usual spaces. Juxtaposed with these are clusters of visuals on wage earners, masons further depicting rumination on labour. Vulnerabilities of both, labour and the onlookers merge here in the visual quote on migratory labours, one of the heartbreaking imageries we were exposed to during the pandemic.
