Seeds of Disparity: Solidarity with the farmers – Students’ Biennale•4th Edition

Seeds of Disparity: Solidarity with the farmers

In response to the Farmer’s Peaceful Protest, a group of 16 students of the Department of Fine Arts, Andhra University pays homage to the people who toil in the mud. The collective is a tribute to the farmers and their products that feeds the entire nation. It is also a commemoration of rural India, where the majority of the nation lives. From these parts, they have marched to the cities in demand for justice and honour for their lives and efforts. It has escalated into a landmark event in the history of farmers, and whether or not it reaches its fulfilment in terms of what is sought, the movement will remain historical and may even determine the course ahead for the farming community. With a balanced sense of concern and hope the installation was set in the walls and floor of the college studio. Objects and images of this collection represent the reverence owed to the farmers and their hardships. Agricultural tools are displayed as relics of the rural life, while the drawings, graphic prints and assemblages hold skilful imageries that protest loudly against the unjust farm rules imposed on the hapless people.
