Methodologies of art-making and thinking through finding
(Rajasthan and Punjab)
The workshop attempted to address triggers that shape methodologies of art making and to initiate the process of creation and communication by thinking through objects. Sessions began by gathering found material that tapped into the immediacy of experience in order to use it as personal references to generate research. The slides presented by the facilitators looked at artworks and ideas across time and space that explore the language of objects to share fiction, archives, histories, speculations, along with several meaning-making formats.
Through presentations, discussions and exercises, participants explored contextual and conceptual possibilities (location, materiality, history, fact and information) of found references, tried experimental mediums, employed curatorial strategies and looked for befitting platforms/spaces to share these outcomes.
