The artists Vaishali. V and Sneha Joshi collaborated to create a performative sound and print installation based on the festival of the same name, celebrated by the people of the Malnad region, Karnataka. The narrative focuses on the rituals associated with the festival, which involves preparing six rice dishes to be offered to the paddy fields at the time of harvest, and which is observed on the full moon day. The work investigates culture as well as language in lieu of oral history traditions in India. This is achieved by primarily incorporating printmaking and audio to represent the cultural narrative and symbolism of the festival, along with the featuring of common ingredients used in the preparation of the rice dishes.
